An Update on Dawsons Corner

An update to the Dawsons Corner scheme received today, and posted to nearby residents.

Good morning

We write to inform you that the major improvement scheme at Dawsons Corner and Stanningley Bypass is currently planned to start this month and we will also be writing to local residents and businesses to let them know. The council has appointed contractor John Sisk to construct the scheme, which is scheduled to take up to 18 months to complete.

As part of the Connecting West Leeds programme along the A6120, the council has completed junction improvements to Fink Hill and western arm of Horsforth roundabout, adding new cycling and walking provision between Horsforth and Dawsons Corner.

Work on Dawsons Corner will complement this, and the scheme aims to:

– Improve safety for pedestrians, cyclists, and other road users

– Reduce congestion and delays, improving traffic flow and air quality

– Make bus journeys more reliable

– Create better connectivity between Leeds and Bradford, supporting economic growth, and improved access to jobs, education, healthcare, and leisure opportunities

We are contacting you to help you to plan ahead, to help mitigate any disruption caused by the works, which involves substantial enlargement and realignment of the junction. To help minimize disruption, part of the works are planned during the school summer holidays to take advantage of reduced traffic levels.

On Thursday 15th May the project team would like to invite you to come along to meet us and learn more about the plans, between 11am – 7pm at Pudsey Civic Hall, Dawsons Corner LS28 5TA.

Further details about construction and disruption will be communicated nearer the time directly to residents and businesses, who live nearest to the site compound and works, as there are plans for night working.
