UPDATED PROPOSALS FOR RICHMOND HOUSE

Following the closure of Richmond House, we were promised it would be brought back as council housing, to continue to serve a social purpose.

We are happy to support this use, meeting the need for affordable housing in the area and have asked that this provides smaller housing for a mix of ages, in line with the needs of people on the council house waiting list from within the local area.

Following the previous application and residents consultation Cllr Peter Carlill, and I have provided our own feedback and followed up the concerns of residents concerning scale and design of the property, having priority for local residents, and increased parking and vehicle use.

As it was clear the previous designs were not up to scratch, the council appointed a brand new architect to take a new approach responding to these comments.

These new designs are detailed on the attached flyer, and in our view provide a much better quality of development, more sympathetic to the existing streetscape, and with a reduced height.

A further residents drop-in event will now be held Wednesday 11 March, 4:00pm – 6:30pm at Pudsey Civic Hall for further comment. Letters will be sent out to nearby residents inviting them to the session. We will be in attendance to listen to residents views.

This site could provide substantial affordable homes for people from our communities, allowing people to stay within the village, close to their friends, family and support network and the area they call home. We’re therefore very happy to see this progress.
