Tackling Flytipping

Following repeated incidents of flytipping and reports and suggestions from local residents, Cllr Craig Timmins and I have arranged to fund an enforcement camera to be positioned on Priesthorpe Road in Woodhall.

We hope this will make an impact in catching the culprits, and if possible will look to fund additional cameras or continually moving the camera in order to protect the wider area.

Thanks to the Leeds City Council Serious Environmental Crime Team for supporting with the move, and their wider work which has seen flytipping reduce by 16% across Leeds.

The Leeds Labour council budget for next year assigns more funding to a new team dedicated to cleaning up our neighbourhoods, increases bulky waste collections, and creates roles dedicated to enforcement.

You can report flytipping online at https://www.leeds.gov.uk/antisocial-behaviour-and-crime/report-fly-tipping

If you hire someone to remove waste, you can also use the Accredited Waste Carrier scheme to find responsible and licensed people and help reduce unscrupulous firms
